AIA Bylaw 17.1:
COACHING QUALIFICATION:
- All head and assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, hired before April 1, 2009 must complete the NFHS Coach Education Program, or approved equivalent, no later than the beginning of the 2009‐2010 school year. All head and assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, hired on or after April 1, 2009 must complete the NFHS Coach Education Program, or approved equivalent, within forty five (45) days from the date of hire.
DETERMINATION:
- The AIA Executive Board recommends the NFHS Coach Education Program (NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching) which satisfies all requirements including verification of completion.
- The AIA Board has determined that a certificate or proof of completion of the previous
NFHS Coach Education program (NFHS/ASEP Principles of Coaching course) will satisfy the requirements of 17.1. The certificate of proof of completion must be received and on file in the school or district office by April 1, 2009 (Ex. Bd. 5/19/08).
- The AIA Board has determined that a certificate or proof of completion of a coach education program offered by a National Council for Accreditation of Coaching Education accredited organization (Level 3) will satisfy the requirements of AIA Bylaw 17.1. The certificate of proof of completion must be received and on file in the school or district by April 1, 2009 or within 45 days of date of hire if hire is after April 1, 2009 (Ex. Bd. 3/16/09).
The following are the only NCACE Level 3 Accredited Programs which will be accepted:
- Brigham Young University
- Georgia Southern University
- Anaheim Union School District
- James Madison University
- Kutztown University
- Shippensburg University
- Smith College
- University of Southern Mississippi
- Virginia High School League
- Western Michigan University
- Winona State University
